Isa Rosa, 30, is serving a 10-year sentence for her role in a robbery that took place in 2014. She was sentenced to seven years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge John Kennedy.

She admitted to the federal crime and said she accepted responsibility based on her remorse and in the hope that having been jailed that long would help with the recovery.

Rodriguez said Rosa’s family is aware of what’s happening and they are praying for Rosa.

“We miss her so much. We miss her very much,” said Rodriguez, who added that Rosa has been struggling with depression since she was in custody. “You hear a guy on the street say he wishes he could hit one of those guys and this is just what happened. She deserves some peace.”

Rosa had a long criminal history including an assault conviction from 2010 to 2012, which led to a year and half suspension from Mississippi State University in Starkville.

Rosa pleaded guilty to a federal charge last year for a separate, similar robbery. It happened in May 2016 at the Doubletree Hotel in Macon. Rosa’s sentence is a long sentence, according to her attorney.

“She will serve her 10 years in federal prison,” said David White. “There’s a lot that can be done for an ex-con. She was a young, 21 year-old female, who was given a chance and that’s why we’re seeking justice and for the peace of mind of her family. If we have to go to trial, that’s fine,” said White.

The FBI was called in to assist with the investigation.
